Young at Harp to perform in Heritage Hall Sunday, March 14, at 2 PM

The musicians of the local group, Young at Harp, will perform a concert in Lisbon Heritage Hall (above the Lisbon Library at 101 East Main Street) on Sunday, March 14, at 2 PM as a joint fundraiser for Southeast Linn Community Center and the Lisbon Public Library. A suggested donation of $10 is requested, but admission is free. On the program for the afternoon are traditional pieces from England, Scotland and Ireland, and guest artist Karen Pierce on the hammered dulcimer will join the group in the final half of the program.

Young at Harp began in January, 1993 as a group of four friends who loved the sound of the harp and found that the folk or Celtic harp was both affordable and portable. Soon after they began playing together, they found themselves in demand for weddings, receptions, banquets and other special occasions. Over the years their number grew as others were inspired to join them, and the sounds of the tenor, alto and soprano recorder has been a glorious addition to the ensemble. Musicians include Bev Armstrong of Lisbon; Ann Booth and Denice Cardon of Mt. Vernon; Nancy Jennings of Marion; and Carolyn Sternowski, Kay Galli, Dawn Hysler and Sue Oglanian of Cedar Rapids.
